Looking at the Big Picture Return to index
Before starting any planning or work on your home, you must remember to take a look around. By this I mean take into account the surroundings of your home. You want to make sure that the paver project you are thinking about installing is going to fit into the scheme of your home.
Hear are a few considerations you should look at:
Existing Landmarks such as trees, flower beds, play area for children.
These are important to look at to make sure that the paver fits into the preexisting landscape, and that it is safe for children or any person for that matter.
Existing colors of buildings, roofs, and possibly the neighbors home and landmarks.
You want to take into account all the colors that are already present in the area to make sure that the paver blends in and matches if not it will look tacky and be an eye sore.
Texture and size of other landmarks, as they will pertain to your paver project.
Taking into account the size and texture, will assure you that the paver looks proportioned properly in the landscape, for example for small areas make sure to use small pavers, they will make the paver look larger than it is. If you have a larger area and want it to look smaller use larger pavers such as Flagstones, they will give a smaller appearance. As for texture if you have many straight lines and a clean cut design for everything else in the area make sure that you paver is the same, using your preexisting landscape to enhance the paver will in turn enhance the landscape, it is all give and take.
By taking into account the entire landscape you will be on the right path when you begin designing you paver.
